Feminine body care

Feminine body care routine

Have you seen the latest ‘that girl‘ trend on TikTok and IG?

Well, I’m obsessed with becoming her!

If you’ve read any of my other posts (if not, this is my top post and this is my second top), you’ll know that I’m all for elevating myself and my everyday and helping other women do the same by focussing on style, beauty and lifestyle.

Becoming that girl means you have hydrated, glowing and smooth skin from head to toe.

The best way to achieve this without having to spend hours and lots of money in the salon all comes down to your weekly feminine body care routine.

As soon as I implement my own version of the ‘That Girl’ feminine body care routine, my skin has never felt or looked better.   My skin is glowing and I barely have breakouts!

This is a huge deal for me because when I turned 28 I developed ‘teenage skin’.  My T-zone was so oily and I had so many spots, but like on my face and body.  It wasn’t fun.

If you’re also looking to become her and have soft, smooth and glowing skin, you can take inspiration from my feminine body care routine below.

In summary, my 9 step ‘that girl’ body care routine:

  1. Hair mask
  2. Face mask
  3. Veet
  4. body wash
  5. Exfoliate
  6. Shave
  7. Moisturise
  8. Skincare

Hair mask

My first step starts with the Olaplex N8 hair mask.

I was recently asked if Olaplex is worth the hype and for me it really is.  This weekly treatment adds lots of hydration back into my hair, which is especially good for me because I regularly have my hair coloured and I’m always using some kind of heated hair styling tool.

I’ve also noticed that with regular use, my hair is no where near as frizzy as it used to be.

I apply and leave the hair mask on for 30 minutes before washing it off in the shower.

If you’re looking for an alternative to Olaplex for whatever reason, Philip Kingsley is another fav of mine.

Face mask

When it comes to face masks there’s so many different types and masks that target different things that I usually use one for whatever my skin is craving that week.  Usually I’ll use this one for hydrated and glowing skin, but if I feel like I need something to target breakouts and my oily skin, then I’ll use this mask from Caudalie.

Hair Removal

In school many of my friends shaved their arm hair only for it to grow back so prickly and sharp in just 2-3 days.  It’s always been something that has fascinated me as why bother if in 2-3 days it looks so much worse?!

If I’m honest, my arm hair never quite bothered me that much that I felt the need to shave it off. Even if I did want to be as smooth as a dolphin from my eyebrows down.

However, one day I decided to try it (gosh knows why!) but OMG, my arms literally never felt and looked as good!

Now I’m a total convert and love the smooth, hairless feeling.

To avoid the prickly hair re-growth I use Veet to melt away the hairs from the follicle rather than shaving the top of the hair off.

Body scrub for women

Exfoliate

There was a short while that I stopped exfoliating completely and I have no idea why.

Exfoliating is one of those chores where it takes you longer in the shower but as soon as you do it, you immediately feel the benefits and you’re glad you went to the effort.

I don’t have a particular favourite exfoliator but I have been using one from Sanctuary Spa and it’s great at removing any dead skin cells and leaving you with soft smooth skin.

Shave

My hands-down favourite shaver is from Estrid.  They did reach out and gift me one razor but I immediately signed up to their monthly subscription.

Their razors give such a close shave and because they deliver the extra razor heads bi-monthly I never get caught with a blunt razor because I’ve forgotten to pick one up at the grocery store.

If you want to try them, click here for a massive 70% off the starter kit which includes the shaver handle, wall mount and 2 razor blades!

Bonus tip: Rub your hair conditioner on your legs (and anywhere else) before shaving to allow the razor to glide over your legs and give you a super smooth finish.

Body wash

The satsuma range from Body Shop is honestly next level amazing.  The smell is that good, I’m now day dreaming about it!

It’s one of those smells where as soon as you get a slight whiff you have to lean in for more.

Moisturise

Once I’m out of the shower, my next step in my feminine body care routine is to moisturise.

I have super dry skin so the only thing that comes close to hydrating it is the Vaseline Cocoa Butter Body Cream.  I apply this to my thighs, stomach and back.

Then I use this Dove lotion everywhere else for a beautiful glow.

Skincare routine

My skincare routine for my face and neck really hasn’t changed much since this post.  My routine still is to cleanse, exfoliate, tone and face cream.

On a night, I add in 2 extra steps.  The first are these Nip&Fab cleansing pads to fight and prevent any breakouts then I use the Sweet eyelash growth serum to keep my lashes healthy and strong.

And that’s it, my that girl body care routine for glowing and smooth skin all week.
