Living a luxury lifestyle has been defined in so many different ways that I’m not even quite sure what the true definition is anymore. Of course, there’s the typical; massive woads of cash, private jets and holidays to your own private island.
But for me, it’s more about enjoying life to its fullest and living in a state of abundance. Of course, designer labels and holidays to exotic islands still fall within my definition, but only when done so for the right reasons i.e. because experiencing those things makes you feel amazing rather than because you’ve maxed out another credit card trying to keep up with the Jones’.
If you’ve read the ‘About’ page, you will know in my late 20s, (Gosh that sounds awful), I overhauled my life and promised myself I would live the best version of me in every aspect. The overall aim, was to live the luxurious lifestyle I had always dreamed of. So the first place to start if you also want to live a luxury lifestyle is to define in your own mind what this looks like, whether it’s having a wardrobe full of designer labels, taking multiple holidays each year or just enough sleep each night! Now, if you’ve stopped by to read this post, I’m guessing your idea of a luxury lifestyle is more than your 8 hours sleep each night, so see below for ideas on how you can also live the luxury lifestyle!
1. Make Time for Your Morning Coffee or Tea
… And have quality coffee or tea for goodness sake! Now, I’m not going to say to put your beverage of choice in your favourite mug because it’s all about putting it in the fancy teacup or the specially designed espresso mug, for instance!
2. Use the Correct Crockery for the Drink or Meal You’re Having
You would never go into a fancy restaurant and be given a pint glass for your wine so don’t do that at home! Having said that, my favourite thing is a wine glass filled with 3-4 ice cubes, a lime wedge and topped with water (yes in that order). For me, this makes me feel so fabulous that I honestly don’t care I’ve gone against my own advice!
3. Never Save Anything for Best
Think about it, if you always use the ‘old stuff’ that has seen better days and should really be in the bin, then what are you really telling the Universe and how can you expect to live the luxurious lifestyle?! Use and enjoy your best china or light the candle you’ve been saving and watch how instantly your mood changes.
4. Go Above and Beyond
No elegant or classy woman has ever settled or ‘made do’ so why are you? Seriously?! Call me extra, but if dinner is being served it’s being set out like I’m at a Michelin star restaurant or if I’m serving drinks to guests they’re in glasses with a fancy straw and a diamond cocktail stirrer!
5. Drink Champagne
Enough said.
6. Have Fresh Flowers Around Your Home
Top tip; buy a large bunch and then divide the flowers amongst the vases you have. Trust me, I can make 12 white roses stretch across 4-5 rooms!
7. Grow Your Own Herbs and Use Fresh Produce
(because how are ready meals and jar bought sauces luxury?!)
8. Pamper Yourself …
… regularly, or go to the salon for pampering.
9. Take a relaxing bubble bath
10. Stop saying, “I can’t afford it”
We’re living a life of abundance not scarcity. We can all afford things but the difference is in priorities.
11. Elevate Your Hobbies
Now I’m not saying don’t play rugby or hockey if that’s what you are in to. I’m simply saying if you wish to live a life of luxury and class, the women tend to have more feminine hobbies for example, ballet, yoga, pilates, horseback riding etc.
12. Curate Your Wardrobe
Only wear pieces that make you feel most fabulous and that are made from quality fabrics. This also extends to casual/ loungewear. There’s no room for stained joggers anymore! If you’re looking to overhaul your wardrobe, I’ve wrote a blog post specifically talking about how to create your own timeless and classic capsule wardrobe here.
13. Keep Your Home Clean
If you have to hire help, do a bit each day or set up a schedule, just do it!
14. Reconsider Your Relationships
This includes, romantic relationships, friendships, family, colleagues etc and only spend time with people who lift you up and make you feel special. Let me know if I have missed anything or if you have any extra tips to living a luxurious lifestyle!
