How to Live a Luxurious Life: 67 Ways to Elevate Your Everyday

The secret to creating a life filled with everyday luxuries has little to do with the amount in your bank account.  To actually create and live a life filled with luxury, the key is in the small details of your everyday routines and habits.

Sure, a lavish holiday in Mauritius will add to your luxury lifestyle, but at some point the holiday will come to an end and if you don’t have little luxuries in your everyday life, then you’re unlikely to remain living the luxurious lifestyle your craving.

Everyday Luxury Meaning

Everyday luxury is taking the everyday mundane routines and tasks and transforming them into something more magical.  Everyday luxury is also described as “romanticising your life” and “main character energy”.

Ever since I can remember, I have always dreamed of living a luxurious lifestyle.  Being able to sip on a glass of champagne whenever I felt like it and have unlimited shopping trips to Louis Vuitton, was my version of heaven.

Whilst I still want to be able to do that, my version of everyday luxury has definitely changed since starting my levelling up journey.

Now, I’ve lived the benefits of including little luxuries everyday, living a luxurious lifestyle, for me, is more about being able to design my day exactly as I want and be truly happy in every aspect of my life.

When you’re wanting to make changes and live a luxurious life, I completely understand it’s very easy to see what you don’t have and to wish things were different.

The truth is, to create a life filled with luxury, you need to focus on what you do have and the small habits and tweaks you can do to make sure each day has a little added je ne sais quoi.

Over the last few years, I’ve really come to understand what luxury means to me and I hope the below list gives you the inspiration to create and live your own luxurious lifestyle.

67 Ways to Add Luxury to Your Everyday

1. Stop saying “you can’t afford it”

Instead, accept and believe that you can afford whatever you want, but you’re not going to purchase said item because you’re saving your money for something better.

2. Walk through, or stop for a drink at a luxurious hotel lobby

It doesn’t cost to pass through or stop for half an hour to watch the world go by in a 5* hotel lobby. Of course, if you feel like you need an added luxury, stop for a drink of tea or champagne! One of the first things I did when starting my levelling up journey to a luxury lifestyle, was I planned date night at a fancy hotel/ restaurant but we would only stop for 1 or 2 cocktails.  Now, we regularly go for a  3 course meal with a bottle of wine and don’t even fret about the bill.

3. Create your own luxurious evening routine

My favourite part of my day is when I begin my evening routine. If you want to take some inspiration from it, you can read about it here. If you don’t have a morning and evening routine, I really recommend you consider starting one, even if it’s only 15 minutes.  For me, it’s the difference between having a great nights sleep or the worst nights sleep!

4. Create your own luxurious morning routine

In the same way as above, create a morning routine you can’t wait to wake up and start!

5. Schedule in something fancy

This doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. A simple coffee date at a high end cafe or a romantic dinner reservation with your other half can bring you so much joy mid-week.

6. Wear your favourite handbag and shoes everyday

One of the easiest and fastest ways to bring happiness and luxury to your everyday life is to wear what makes you feel amazing.  If you feel amazing, you’ll definitely look amazing!

Feminine perfume

7. Find your signature scent

And when you’ve found it, wear it everyday – even if you’re running errands or staying home.  I have recently got into the habit of wearing a different scent to bed than what I do throughout the day. I’m currently loving Dior, J’adior.  It’s an expensive addition to my evening routine but it makes me feel so amazing that it’s a cost I’m willing to pay.  If you’d like some help choosing the best feminine perfume for you, I’ve specially written this post, just for you!

8. Do your hair and makeup

To boost your confidence and bring yourself to the next level of luxury, make sure your hair and makeup is done each day.  You don’t have to do a full contour with a smokey eye, but a little really does go a long way.

9. Shop your wardrobe

Choose your outfit each day as though you were wondering around a boutique with free range to choose whatever takes your fancy.

10. Choose your top 3

I recently spoke more about my top productivity tips in this post. Ever since I have implemented having a 3 item to-do list each day, I’ve felt so much more successful and accomplished.

11. Cook from scratch

Homemade pesto, tomato sauces for pasta and salad dressings taste so much better than the store bought alternatives and they’re packed with so much more flavour.  Don’t believe me? I challenge you to make your own pesto with fresh basil – you’ll honestly never go back to pre-made jars!

Champagne at home

12. Drink champagne

… or wine, whichever is your preferred option.  A glass of champagne is a certain way to add luxury to your day.  As I don’t normally drink much alcohol and I certainly didn’t want to waste a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, I actually opt for the mini bottles when grocery shopping.  They’re only around £10 a bottle and you can easily have 3 decent size glasses from it so it’s a great cheaper option when you want to add luxury but can’t afford to buy the full bottle…yet!

13. Use quality bed linen

Replicate your favourite hotel by using quality bed sheets and notice how much better you slept in super soft sheets.

14. Iron your bedsheets

I recently asked on IG stories whether anyone actually ironed their bed sheets or if it was only me.  I was so shocked that barely anyone ironed their bedsheets!  I understand when you have king sized sheets that its not the easiest of tasks, but the feeling of freshly ironed sheets is one of the best ways to add luxury to your everyday life.  Not to mention, your bed always looks properly made and waiting for you when your sheets have been ironed.

15. Celebrate your wins

No matter how small, bring a little extra luxury and happiness to your day by celebrating something you’ve achieved or that went well.  They key to living a luxurious life is not to wait until you have everything in order, but to take each day and celebrate – see number 11 for how to celebrate with champagne when you’re on a budget!

16. Use a silk pillowcase

There’s so many benefits to using a silk pillow case.  It can help reduce wrinkles, prevent split ends and is cleaner than a cotton pillowcase.  Of course, silk fabrics are also associated with luxury and the rich so why not extend your everyday luxuries to the evening? I actually use this silk pillow case which is less than $20!

17. Be present

Make everyday extra special by living in the moment and being grateful for everything you have.  Of course, this also extends to just being still and enjoying some you time.

18. Personalised stationary

In most of the dramas on TV, there’s always a luxury lady or aristocrat who has personalised stationary or a fancy fountain pen.  Follow in their path and invest in a lovely pen or notepaper to make the most elegant and classy notes.

19. Museums and art galleries

Most art galleries and museums are free and those that aren’t, don’t charge too high to go in.  Change up date night once in a while to a museum or art gallery for some added class and sophistication to your day. Better yet, choose to go on a day when there’s a new art exhibition opening!

20. Shop at the farmer’s market

Shop your local farmer’s market to purchase your groceries.  Not only will you know where your food has come from and be able to purchase quality ingredients, but carrying around your fresh produce in a cloth bag will look soo Parisienne chic.

21. Eat organic and fresh foods

Following on from shopping at your local farmer’s market, there will of course be some items you’ll have to go to a mainstream supermarket for.  When purchasing what’s left on your list, opt for the fresh and organic version.  After all, there’s nothing luxurious about a jar of sauce that could outlive you!

22. Hike or take scenic walks

There is luxury in the outdoors. Being within nature and able to move your body will release endorphins to keep you happy and feeling your best all day.

23. Watch the sunrise or sunset

If you can do this everyday, I would recommend you take the time to stop and appreciate the world’s beauty.  It’s one of the most romantic and luxurious things for a reason!

24. Play uplifting music

The music you choose to listen to is completely up to you, but jazz and classical music are heavily associated with the elite society.

Whenever I play jazz and have a glass of wine, I instantly feel so much more chic and glamorous. My favourite playlists on Apple Music are ‘jazz in the background’ and ‘Vitamin string quartets’.

25. Grow your own fruit, veg and herbs

If you have the garden space, consider becoming greener by growing your own produce. Your meals will instantly taste so much nicer by using fresh ingredients rather than dried out store bought options.

26. Use lavender pouches in your drawers

Allow your clothes to smell so fresh and inviting by placing lavender pouches or something similar in your wardrobe and drawers.  You could use these ones or make your own for an even cheaper alternative.

Woman pilates

27. Exercise daily

Exercising because you want to rather than out of an obligation can make you feel much more in control of your day.  For added luxury, choose an activity which is commonly practiced by the elite of society, for instance yoga, pilates, horse riding or tennis.

Coffee in bed

28. Drink only quality tea and coffee

Having at least one quality tea or coffee you stop your day to enjoy is a luxury in itself.  I love to have the Royal Blend tea in the afternoon as it tastes so nice- heck, just the name makes my day feel so much more special.

29. Sleep in

Let’s face it, when is this not a luxury?!  Whether you’re into the finer things or not, everyone loves the feeling of not having to set an alarm the next day.

30. Have a nap

If you can’t manage to sleep in, then taking an afternoon nap is definitely the next best thing.  My secret to taking a nap where you actually feel refreshed is to nap for 15 minutes on your left side and then turn over for another 15 minutes on your right side. Make sure to keep a lamp on to avoid waking up disorientated and wondering what season you’re in!

31. Wear gorgeous loungewear and lingerie

Just because you’re having a relaxing day at home and possibly running a few errands, doesn’t mean you have to let your standards slip.  Add a little luxury everyday by wearing your best underwear and loungewear and let your confidence shine through.

32. Have a creative hobby

High-value women have hobbies to match their lifestyles.  Hobbies such as flower arranging, painting and music are a sure way to level up and add luxury to each day you practice your hobby.  If you’re unsure what hobby you might want to start, here’s my list of 27 hobby ideas!

33. Attend regular spa appointments

One of my 2020 resolutions was to visit the spa more regularly and have a facial or massage at least once every 2-3 months.  But when Covid hit, I changed my focus and instead I now have regular spa time at home and do my own facial. It’s not the same, but when you spend the money you would have one 1 facial but on quality products for at home, it’s nearly just as good!

34. Buy fresh flowers

Those who truly live a luxurious life, have fresh flowers placed throughout their homes.  My top tip is to buy a large bouquet of flowers and then separate the bunch into different vases around my home.  That way I only need to buy one bouquet but can make pretty much the whole house more inviting and glamorous.

Woman skincare routine

35. Use quality skincare and makeup

Similarly, to eating and drinking quality ingredients, it’s important to use quality products, suited to your skin type and concerns as part of your skincare routine.  Being able to sit at my dressing room table and take my time to carry out my full skincare routine is one of my favourite ways to add everyday luxury.

36. Have a duvet day

If you’re lucky enough to be able to sleep in without an alarm, why not go one step further and have a full duvet day?!  Make sure you have some water next to your bed as well as a good book or a film at the ready to really make the most of being able to snooze and lay in bed all day, or for as long as you wish.

37. Relax with essential oils

Relax and unwind from your day with essential oils.  Each oil combination has different effects on the body.  To bring calmness to your day try using  a lavender based oil.  To get maximum benefits, pair this tip with the next and relax.

38. Sit and do nothing

Depending on your day to day routine, being able to sit and do nothing could be all the added luxury you need!  Try sitting for 20-30 minutes each day without doing anything to feel more calm, centred and balanced.

Elegant bath tub

38. Have a hot bath or shower

… And turn your bathroom into a mini luxury spa at home.  Take your time to fully relax in your bath or shower.  You can even take your luxury experience to the next level by investing in some luxury body wash or exfoliating scrubs.

39. Use oil decanters and a pestle and mortar

Using fancy kitchen tools was high on my list of things to start doing when I wanted to add more luxury to my day.  Still to this day I love using these tools to make my own herb and sauce blends from scratch.

40. Treat yourself

The ultimate way to add luxury to your daily living is to treat yourself.  You can choose how much to spend, or to spend nothing at all.  It can be anything from a latte at Starbucks or something from your Chanel wish list.

41.  Drink elderflower cordial

Simply, it sounds better than orange squash!  I tend to make this in a large wine glass.  Add some ice and a fresh lime, and there you go.  A grown up and elegant non-alcoholic drink.

Healthy lemon water

42. Add lemon or lime juice to your morning cup of water

At luxury restaurants the water always comes with ice and a lemon or lime wedge.  Re-create this luxury at home for such a low cost too.  Also, fresh lemon and lime contain so much goodness for your general health and digestion, it’s a double win!

43. Go to a high end gym or lounge

I used to be a member of a high end gym and as soon as I walked in, I instantly felt so luxurious and as if I was living the high life.  There would be fresh towels neatly rolled up waiting, clean gym areas and the changing rooms were also a dream.  There would be times when I would attend the club just to have dinner and watch all the other luxurious ladies go by.

Whilst I wasn’t invited to any of the ‘ladies of leisure’ brunches, just being in the same club and seeing them made me feel so much more luxurious.

44. Eat healthy and nutritious salads

I guarantee you’ll feel so much lighter in the afternoon and you’ll have so much more energy.  I’ve really grown to love a salad recently. It’s like the total opposite feeling of whenever I eat something I really shouldn’t and I have that feeling of dread in my stomach but this time it’s pure happiness!

45. Play relaxing spa music as you wash before bed

Choose your fav spa or relaxing jazz playlist and have it softly play in the background while you carry out your evening routine.

46. Read a book in bed before going to sleep

Instead of scrolling on your phone and subjecting yourself to all the blue light and buzz from your screen, try reading or listening to an audiobook for 15 minutes before bed. It can help you naturally drift off into a deeper sleep – and who doesn’t want a decent night’s sleep?!

47. Use or wear your nice things everyday

Just please don’t save your nice things for best! Use those expensive champagne glasses or your fine china at dinner.

48. Use a fancy body exfoliator, butter etc

Treat yourself to something you wouldn’t normally use and really take the time to enjoy its smell and how much nicer it feels on your skin.  If you’ve not read it yet, I have this post all about my feminine body care routine.

49. Stretch or practice yoga

There’s nothing elegant about being so stiff you can hardly bend over and when you walk every bone cracks! There’s a yoga flow for pretty much every mood and ability on Youtube so why not give one a try?

50. Go to an artisan cafe for fresh croissants

Need I say more? They just bring a whole other level of joy to my day.

51. Learn how to make your own vinaigrette or salad dressing

Just like cooking from scratch and then eating a healthy salad, I can guarantee you’ll feel very chic once you try and master your signature sauce.

52. Clean your house

…And open a window to let the fresh air in!

53.Clean your car

In the same way, you’ll feel so much better to have a clean environment.

54. Drink a detox juice in the morning

All because healthy living is a luxury!

55. Spend time with a loved one

Spending time with a loved one whilst we can is the ultimate luxury right?!

56. Treat yourself to a blow dry

57. Bake fresh cookies or cakes

58. Set the table properly

Even if there’s only you eating your morning oats. Having a proper place setting always makes me feel like I’m in a fancy restaurant.

59. Watch a classic and elegant film e.g. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

60. Have a full feminine luxurious shower routine

61. Clean your makeup brushes and arrange them like a beauty counter for the next time you use them

62. Go to your nearest beach

63. Learn about different wine and champagne

64. Host a dinner party

This is the elevated woman’s alternative to a night in a bar or club on a Friday or Saturday night.  I always like to include a few games after dinner and if you can personalise a game to your guests it’ll go down even more of a treat!  Recently I hosted a personalised “Mr and Mrs” game for 2 friends who got engaged on the same day to their respective partners and other time a dear friend made a personalised Bingo game from events and sayings at our wedding. It really made the evening truly magical.

65. Hire a chef or cleaner to help you

They’re surprisingly not as expensive as you might think! Of course they’re still a luxury and will cost you a fair bit to have them everyday but a cleaner once a fortnight is enough for me at the minute to have some time back to myself to relax (and not argue over who has done the most chores around the house!)

66. Decorate your home like a 5* hotel

67. Use a relaxing pillow spray

I love the one from Neom! One or two sprays on the underneath side of my pillow is enough to make me go to sleep happy and relaxed.

So that’s my complete list of how to add luxury to your life everyday.  I hope you’re able to take some inspiration and implement a few today so you can also live your most luxurious life.
